Well Northumberland has had more than its fair share of rain this month, culminating last week in the worst flooding for 50 years. We were not affected but the river levels outside the house were interesting, we never saw the Salmon Fisherman's island for 3 days!
Our heartfelt sympathy goes to poor people of Morpeth, they bore the brunt after the River Wansbeck burst its banks. I was on a website course in Morpeth the day after the river finally subsided and walked around the area and talked to some of the victims. Those poor people. Amazingly it was really quiet, people just going about their unpleasant clear-up operations, heads down but strangely resolute. Maybe the old war-time spirit is still alive.
Well we had the food and beer festival to cheer us up at the weekend, a really good attempt by the organisers. Of course I had to sample the real ale out of duty to our guests who might have wanted my views. It was a great weekend for anyone fancying a change next year.
