We are pleased to announce that our prices remain unchanged for 2010! In our recession-hit times we feel it is unfair to put further pressure on our customer's finances. We hope you take advantage of this offer, the season is ahead of us and Berwick is starting to blossom, literally!
Suzanne and I looking forward to seeing you!

What a summer!
Well summer is over and what a summer it was, we were full without a break for 10 weeks! It was lovely to see so many happy guests enjoying the beauty of Berwick, the Borders and Northumberland.
We wondered how much of the increase in custom and visitor numbers had to do with the recession and people deciding to stay in the UK?
We had good weather for most of the school holidays and are currently enjoying an Indian Summer though temperatures have dropped.
The Granary project is well underway now and is on schedule but of course there are still 14 months to completion.
We had our annual visit by the Tourist Board's Hotel Inspector and had our 5 star, silver award re-confirmed! That is good news, it means our high standards have been maintained.
Our winter prices commence 1st. November so if you want to enjoy an autumnal stay at The Walls follow the link thewallsberwick.com or ring us on 01289 330233.

Summer is upon us!
Here we are at last in glorious summer and the salmon fishermen just outside on the Tweed are preparing for this year's run. They haven't caught much yet but it can only be days away now.
Mute Swan numbers are increasing, soon there should around 400 and the sight will be spectacular.
Work on the £5 million renovation programme of the last remaining Berwick Granary just behind us is progressing very well and is on target to complete in late 2010.
The Grey Seal was out below us yesterday. He had caught a large salmon and was trying to eat it without giving any scraps away to the dive-bombing seagulls! The seals are a pleasure to see but the fishermen are understandably less enthusiastic!
We only have a few nights available for booking until September so if you are thinking of booking with us, do so as soon as possible on

Hope to see you soon

Andrew Motion visits The Walls
We are now at the start of our second summer season and things are really hotting up, even the weather! Bookings are coming in thick and fast so if you are planning to stay with us, the sooner you make your enquiry the better on thewallsberwick.com
This month it was our very great privilege to have the outgoing Poet Laureate Andrew Motion with us. He was giving a reading of his work at The Maltings as part of the Spoken Word Festival. Now we can't claim to be poetry buffs but we were genuinely moved by his words and he was a charming gentleman to meet.
Outside on the River Tweed we see that the Mute Swans are increasing their numbers slowly toward the usual 400. The Salmon must be running because the seals are queueing up outside to feast upon them, and the trout are jumping for fly. The otters haven't been seen for a month or so but we believe they are still around and healthy.
Hope to see you soon

New website design
Hope you like the new-look website. The artwork was done by Richard Deighton, my very gifted nephew. You can see other examples of his work at http://www.nuyustore.com/
The website build and publishing was done in record time and fantastic efficiency by Paul Smith of Fantasy Prints who you can contact here http://www.fantasyprints.co.uk/
The photos were mostly taken by my patient and arty friend Stephen Green from York.
Our thanks to all for your hard work and devotion.
